Facilities
EDA conducts testing in vacuum systems ranging from high flow rate 6x9m cryopumped vacuum facilities for high power thruster work, to ultra-clean 10-9 Torr turbopumped UHV field emitter test chambers.
Tests are conducted using automated measurement equipment from Keithley, Agilent, National Instruments, and others. Testing automation is done in LabVIEW.
EDA conducts simulation work on parallel processor unix based machines using PIC codes such as XOOPIC, direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code such as MONACO, CFD code and others.

News
EDA was awarded a phase-II SBIR in 2006, a phase-I SBIR in 2007, and a phase-II STTR by the Air Force. EDA was also awarded a Phase-I SBIR from NASA in 2007.
Research topics include:
- A Hypersonic Plasma Adaptive Sensor System
- A low intrusive fiber optic plug for TPS materials
- High efficiency two stage helicon Hall thruster
- Hypersonic and reentry vehicle communications systems
Work has finished on our 2004 phase-II STTR developing Boron Nitride/MEMS gate field emitters for hall thruster neutralization.
